Cheesy burgers, fried chicken, shoe string fries with potato and gravy. That’s what I would call an awesome meal for a night out. Except this was lunch. Trying out Mary’s was simply to tick another place we’d heard so much about, off the foodie list. I can see the appeal of the place, it would be great at night over a few drinks and could easily imagine it being packed on a Friday and Saturday night. The food was delicious, especially to help with alcohol absorption. It might seem a bit overpriced considering the location and the way the food is served, on some grease paper lining little plastic baskets. Continue reading
Having left work yesterday to catch a 6:45 movie at Dendy Cinemas meant not having much time to eat dinner. The wonderful thing about eating out in Newtown is that you have so many options when needing a quick, cheap but delicious meal. The Italian Bowl was close to the theatre, has great tasting pasta and costs south of $15.
My pick for a pre-movie dinner was this Linguini Siciliana. Olives, eggplant and ricotta in a very tasty napolitana sauce.
One of the first restaurants I had ever tried in Neutral Bay, Ginger & Spice has been a faved Singaporean food source for about a decade (maybe even more!). The place itself is located in the not-so-busy side of Military Road, closer to Cremorne, near the Redlands school and it’s not until the last couple of years that other restaurants have appeared nearby that have enough customer pull to become a permanent fixture in the neighbourhood.
